Verdicts

Queens County construction worker receives $7.330 Million for Personal Injuries and a traumatic leg amputation.  The 44 year old construction worker was struck by excavation equipment which caused personal injuries including a crushed leg.  The hospital was unable to save his leg and had to eventually remove it.  The insurance companies tried to deny paying on numerous technical issues with their insurance policies.  The firm defeated all the insurance denials and achieved one of the highest awards for this type of personal injury.

Queens County Jury Awards $3.6 Million In Motor Vehicle Accident - A Queens County jury awarded a 43 year old Korean student $3.6 million as a result of her being struck by a van while she was crossing a busy street in the crosswalk.  This plaintiff suffered a comminuted fracture to her femur requiring grafting, open reduction and internal fixation surgery, as well as arthroscopic surgery to her shoulder.

Bronx County construction worker receives $3 Million for personal injuries to his neck and lower back.  The 38 year old Construction worker was struck by a piece of a hoist while working.  His personal injuries eventually required surgery to his lower back.  The firm obtained a finding that the Construction worker was not at fault for the accident and won a successful appeal of this decision.

New York County worker injured on the job receives $2.3 Million as a result of a motor vehicle accident.  The 32 year old worker was injured while working due to a motor vehicle accident.  He sustained personal injuries to neck, back and knee.  The personal injuries to his neck and knee eventually required surgery.

New York County Jury Awards $2.275 Million in Construction Accident - A New York County jury awarded an undocumented Mexican construction worker $2.275 million while working at a demolition site as a laborer directing traffic, when a steel beam binging hoisted by an elevation machine slipped off the machine's bucket and grazed the laborer's head, causing a laceration to his head and a bulging disc in his lower back.  On the day of the accident, the laborer received 13 sutures to close the laceration and was released the same day from the hospital.  Thereafter the laborer received conservative treatment for approximately one and a half years then he returned to work because his symptoms had improved significantly.  In addition, plaintiff claimed he would need to undergo a decompressive laminectomy in the future.

Kings County Jury Awards pedestrian struck by a car $1.2 Million.  The 27 year old pedestrian sustained personal injuries to his neck, back, knees and a ruptured spleen.  The injury to the spleen eventually required surgery and removal.  The insurance company refused to offer a fair settlement and the jury awarded 1.2 million dollars for the plaintiffs personal injuries.

78 Year Old Man Receives $1 Million in Motor Vehicle Accident - In Queens County, a 78 year old Guyanese man received $1 Million in a pedestrian knockdown motor vehicle accident, when he was struck by a motor vehicle while attempting to cross a street in a crosswalk in Queens County.  The elderly man sustained a severe injury to his head, consisting of a subdural hematoma which required an invasive craniotomy, however, he made an excellent recovery from said injuries.

Bronx County Jury Awards $850,000.00 in Motor Vehicle Accident - A Bronx County jury awarded a 42 year old school safety guard $850,000.00 for injuries she suffered in a motor vehicle accident while she was driving her car in a Bronx intersection, when a police car that allegedly was in an emergency mode, with its lights and sirens on, struck the safety guard's motor vehicle.  As a result of the accident, the safety guard suffered aggravation of prior neck and lower back conditions, as well as tears of the medial meniscus and medial collateral ligament with chondromalacia which became symptomatic for the very first time 22 months after the accident and which required arthroscopic surgery two years after the accident.

Bronx County Jury Awards $789,601.00 in Motor Vehicle Accident - A Bronx County jury awarded a 37 year old home health aide $789,601 for injuries she sustained as a result of a motor vehicle accident while she was a front seat passenger in a car being operated by her friend which collided with a bus when the bus made a hasty lane change and cut the car off.  As a result of the accident, the home health aide suffered a knee injury consisting of a torn lateral meniscus, torn medial meniscus, chondromalacia, as well as neck and low back symptoms.  The home health aide required two different arthroscopic surgeries to repair the injuries to her knee which improved her condition significantly.

Bronx County construction worker receives $750,000.00 for personal injuries to his neck, back and knee.  The 44 year old construction worker was injured during the new Yankee Stadium construction project when he fell from a scaffold.  The personal injuries eventually required arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus to his knee.

Bronx County Jury Awards $515,000.00 in Motor Vehicle Accident - A Bronx County jury awarded a 34 year old toll-booth clerk $515,000.00 for injuries she sustained as a result of a motor vehicle accident while she was a back seat passenger in a livery cab which was struck by another vehicle which was making a u-turn.  As a result of the accident, the toll-booth clerk received medical treatment for the first time three weeks after the accident and complained about pain to her neck and back for which she received three months of treatment.  About 16 months after the accident, she complained of pain and symptoms to her right knee, which her orthopedic surgeon diagnosed as a tear of the medial meniscus.  Although the surgeon recommended arthroscopic surgery, the plaintiff was unable to follow through with it, due to medical concerns arising from her severe obesity.

80 Year Old Woman Receives $500,000.00 In Trip & Fall In Supermarket - A Suffolk County woman who tripped and fell on a pallet that was extending into the aisle at a Walbaums, received $500,000.00 for fracturing her hip, which required a total hip replacement.

Kings County Jury Awards $485,000.00 In Motor Vehicle Accident - A Kings County jury awarded a 44 year old livery cab driver $485,000.00 for injuries he sustained as a result of being cut-off by a tow truck.  The jury found the tow truck 100% responsible and the livery cab driver sustained herniated discs at the C3-C4 & L4-L5 disc levels, however, never followed through with any recommended surgery.

Kings County Jury Awards $450,000.00 In Motor Vehicle Accident - A Kings County jury awarded a 35 year old cab driver $450,000.00 for injuries he sustained as a result of being struck in the rear by a truck.  The cab driver sustained a herniated disc at the C5-C6 disc level as well as a torn medial meniscus in his left knee which required arthroscopic knee surgery.

Kings County Jury Awards $400,000.00 In Trip & Fall On City Sidewalk - A Kings County jury awarded $400,000.00 to a 36 year old deli owner $400,000.00 for injuries he sustained in a trip and fall accident which occurred on a city owned sidewalk which had a raised defect which the City of New York had prior written notice of.  The jury found the City of New York 100% responsible for causing the accident.  The deli owner sustained a wrist fracture of his non-dominant hand which required open reduction and internal fixation.

Kings County Jury Awards $400,000.00 In Premises Fall From Defective Bannister - A Kings County Jury awarded a 65 year old unemployed woman $400,000.00 for injuries she sustained as a result of a fall which occurred when she slipped on a wet stairway condition and attempted to grab a loose and defective banister/handrail which separated from the wall and caused her to fall down the staircase.  The jury found the premises owner 100% responsible for the elderly woman's injuries, which consisted of a fractured wrist of her dominant hand which required casting and 18 visits to a physical therapist.
